How can we help?

Help articles

  • Your cover note is important, every employer tells us this over and over again.

Show the employer you are genuinely interested in their company, the job itself and what you can bring to the job. Mention specific skills or experience you have that relate directly to the job posting.

Be authentic, avoid jargon, convey your personality and make sure it's clear that the note is unique to that role. Do not send Generic cover notes.  Avoid over used phrases like problem solver, self-starter and so on.

The cover note is an early chance to show the employer that you are the right person for the job. Put some thought into it.

  • Found a job you're interested in but not ready to apply yet?

Click the heart symbol by the job and it will appear under your saved jobs in your dashboard. Apply when you are ready!

Find the heart symbol on the listing
or within the job specification itself.

Find all your saved jobs in your dashboard.

  • When you apply for a role with an Employer or choose to join their candidate pool we make a direct connection between your profile and theirs.  This means that if you update your profile, they will see it immediately.  So as you progress through your career, learn new skills, gain more experience, change location etc etc, update your profile and the employer will always see the latest version.

It may be a simple change like updating your availability, maybe now you can work Saturdays and before you couldn't.  With a live profile the Employer knows immediately.

Your cover note that you completed for a role will always remain unchanged as will the answers to any screening questions, but if you change your profile after you apply the application will present the latest profile.

  • Have you seen a job advertised that you think is inappropriate for whatever reason?  Please feel free to hit the Report button at the top of the job specification.

That will open up our Job Report page. Please select why you feel the job is inappropriate along with any additional information and we will check it out.

  • Did you know that once you post a job with JobFairy, you can invite candidates directly to video Interview for that job even if they have not applied through JobFairy?

This could be candidates you have attracted to apply from other sources such as

Indeed.com, Jobs.ie, IrishJobs.ie, LinkedIn, Direct contact or direct referral, and so on.

Quite simply, when you create and publish a job we automatically create a direct video link for that role.  You can send it to the candidate anyway you want, SMS, Whatsapp, Email, Place it directly in an Indeed message you are sending. It is up to you. So if the candidate has not already applied through JobFairy we can help!

So where is this magic link?

    1. Click on the Jobs tab.
    2. Once there, click directly on the Job that you would like to send a link to, let's say in this example the Donut Technician role.

. Click 'link to Solo Interview'

. Use this link how you want. Paste it into an Indeed message, paste it in an email, SMS it, Whatsapp it.  It's up to you.

What we would suggest though is that you give the candidate an introduction to the link. For example.

" Thanks for the interest in the role. Please complete the one way video interview at a time, place and device that suits you using the JobFairy platform'

Please click on the link below to get started. Thank you

    {Paste your JobFairy video link here} "

***  So that's it, you just wait for the Candidate to complete the Video Interview, you will receive an email when this happens and the Candidate's video will appear in your dashboard.  ***

Wondering what the candidate will see when they click on a link?
Once they enter their details and click - 'Proceed to Interview' they see this screen. Remember when you posted the Job you decided what questions you wanted them to answer, how long they could answer for and how many retakes they had!
When they click' Start Video Interview , up pops the Interview Box. No downloads, no apps required. Note the candidate has the option to Practice.
Once they click 'Begin Interview' they allow their device to give access to the camera and the microphone.
Then the interview starts- they get asked the questions you set up as part of your job spec.
They complete the video and receive this confirmation page

You then receive an email that they have completed the Video Interview and can access it in your dashboard.

It appears in your Application page and also on the Candidate Pipeline for that role.
Just Click on the Application and up pops the video. Remember you can comment on this internally and whoever else you have added to your hiring team can collaborate on it.

  • Our messaging system is called 'Conversations'. It's a mix of email, SMS and Live chat.  By blending these three together it allows you to quickly contact candidates that have applied within Jobfairy.  The candidate can reply back through their own 'Conversations' tab.  Only employers can start the conversation.

Here is a quick video showing you how to use 'Conversations'

  • The good news is that JobFairy works great with LinkedIN and you can use it with LinkedIN premium posts.  So you can harness the power of candidates from LinkedIN AND use all your JobFairy features - especially the Video Cover Notes and Solo Interviews!

There is one slight difference in how you post. pay attention to step 4 below!

    2. On your LinkedIN account, click 'Post a job
    3. Enter the Job Details

HINT - Copy these from your JobFairy job specification!

    Add some skills

    4. Now here is the key bit ! On step 2 - Applicant options - Choose External website. Note if you had already posted a job and chosen to receive applicants by Email, you will not be allowed to edit this.
    5. Copy the URL (Link) of your Job Post and enter this in the Website address text box on the form.

    i.e. Copy here
or Click here at the bottom of the job post on JobFairy
Then paste it into the Website address text box
Then Click Post Job for Free!

    6. Now choose if you would like to Promote it. We would always recommend promoting the post.

Note you can edit the suggested amount down - At time of writing there is a €5 minimum amount per day.
    7.  Now when an applicant applies through LinkedIN this way - their application goes straight into your JobFairy dashboard giving you one central place to manage all of your candidates.

A new Branding & Promotion tab, keep an eye out on this as we unlock features when they are ready

  • Building your profile takes a couple of minutes if you have your content ready.

Please read our article on content first.

    1. Name

Please use your Trading as Name.  If you are a Franchisee please add in the location after the Franchise name.

    2. Company Logo

As mentioned in the above article - we will look to leverage use of your logo for you as best we can.  Take the time to upload it. If you do not enter a logo we will give you a circle with the first letter of your business name.  As you might gather this does not have the same impact!  Don't be 'barry's bistro' in the example below.

If you have an Instagram account, your logo for that will fit perfectly here.  DONT USE PNG IMAGES as they will not show up on our MAP - use jpg instead.

    3. Banner Image

This image will form the backdrop to your Company page.  Pick a landscape style photo, or take a rectangular slide out of a photo you like.  3. Industry/Sector

Please choose the one that best describes you. Candidates can search for jobs by filtering on this, so make sure you take time to the pick the right value for your business.

    4. Company Size

This is a useful value for candidates to know as this information can help attract a better candidate for you. Some candidates wish to work in larger businesses, some in small. This is not a mandatory value.

    5. Year Founded.

Non mandatory but a nice value to share.

    6. Address or Eircode

We use the google API for our address data.  If you have a number of premises, enter the address where you would like your JobFairy hiring kit to be sent to.  Accurayte address data is important as we can show your exact location on our Employer map as well as for our distance calculations

    7. About Us

Here you get the chance to tell the candidate more about your company. Your History, Culture, Values, your customers, your staff are all items you may wish to mention.  It's a great opportunity to inform the candidate about who you are, what you do and what matters to you.

    8. Social Media

Share any of the social media or website details you have here. Make it easy for the candidate to find out more about you.

    9. Vanity URL

What you pick here is used in your unique company page URL. IE the Website address we give you. For example if you pick your Vanity URL as 'Barrysbistro'

Your jobfairy website will be  www.jobfairy.co/barrysbistro

    10. Publish your profile.

Once you are ready to put yourself on our map - check the box for Publish.

    11.  Photo Gallery!!

On a separate Profile Gallery page you can also add some great pictures of your Company which will appear on your page. Here is a nice selection of pictures that West Cork Holidays have added in.

  • We recommend asking between 3 and 5 questions per job to your candidates.  The idea is to make it as quick and easy for candidates to complete and for you to review, and generally most employers are able to get the insights they need after the first minute or two of the videos.

We recommend an answer time of 45s to 1 minute. Setting a high answer time can put additional pressure on the candidate whilst shorter times encourage short to the point answers.

We have provided forty questions for you to pick from (start typing). But feel free to ask your own.  We find that open questions based on the candidates personal experiences work best.

  • So what exactly is a one way video interview?

    1. You decide what questions you would like to ask a candidate when you create the job specification.

    2. After a candidate applies you can decide to invite them to the one way video interview.

They get an email and SMS link which allows them to open up the interview system, on any device they want.  The candidate can complete this (non live) video at a time and place of their convenience, and you can then view it on your JobFairy dashboard at your own convenience.

It's a huge time saver for employers and candidates and quickly allows you to see some of the personality of the candidate. You are also giving every candidate the same experience allowing you to fairly assess one candidates answers with respect to anothers.
